Damian M. Barcroft’s Top Ten Portrayals of Sherlock Holmes. No.10
An new version of a Sherlock Holmes classic is being created by a Lancaster theatre company.
The players from Imitating the Dog are reworking one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most popular of the great detective’s adventures, The Hound of the Baskervilles.
They are collaborating with Oldham Colliseum to recreate a dark and sinister staging of the Sherlock Holmes mystery.
The resulting production will be staged at The Dukes Theatre in Lancaster from April 17 to 21, as part of The Dukes first Intermission Season which features events mixing live performance and film on stage.
The company will make use of the theatre’s unique dual function as a home producing theatre and independent cinema to mix digital images, stark lighting and enveloping sound to create a cinematic portrayal of lonely Dartmoor and the gothic Baskerville Hall where the tale of the ancient family curse is set.
There will be a post show talkback with the cast and director after the performance on April 17.
Tickets for The Hound of the Baskervilles are on sale now, priced £11 to £18.50, with £2 off for concessions, from The Dukes box office on 01524 598500 or online at www.dukes-lancaster.org
